Vivian Rescalvo

Community Leader

With over 30 years of public/private experience in government affairs, Vivian is currently a Senior Director in Countywide Planning for the LA Metropolitan Transit Authority.  Prior to coming over to Metro, Vivian was the Transportation and Education Deputy to Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky between 2005-2014. She was responsible for policy recommendations on all Los Angeles County transportation issues, and oversaw the Los Angeles County Board of Education and education policy issues countywide, including oversight of LACHSA.

Between 1993-2000, Vivian served as Supervisor Yaroslavsky’s Deputy for Children and Family Services and Public Social Services. During this time, she worked with numerous organizations and advocates to improve the lives of at-risk youth and their families through legislation and various initiatives. She continues her involvement with at-risk youth as a member of the Board of Directors of St. Anne’s. From 2001-March 2005, she worked in the Government Practice and Land Use division of the law firm of Manatt, Phelps and Phillips before rejoining Yaroslavsky’ s County staff. She holds a B.A in Urban Studies from California State University, San Francisco and an M.A. in Urban Planning from University of California, Los Angeles.
