Kim Huffman Cary’s professional life has been focused on Music Department work in Film/TV via MTV staff, freelance Music Supervision, and as a producer in a composer’s studio. She has worked for MTV Networks, Netflix, Comedy Central, and others.
Huffman Cary has also been able to complement her caregiving years by serving in many volunteer positions at her children’s schools and others, including serving as Trustee of Nantucket Lighthouse School. She served a full two-year term as a board member at this Waldorf inspired pre-k through 6 private school in Nantucket, MA.
She was also a founding parent of Larchmont Charter School (LCS) and she remains an advocate and proponent of free, public, equitable education. At Larchmont Charter School, she Chaired the Lunch Committee for eleven years, including a year in which she did not have a child enrolled at that school. In addition, she was honored to be invited to the School Reopening Joint Task Force at LCS to safely and effectively return students to in-person learning after the Covid-19 pandemic.
At Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies (LACES), she served as Chair for Gala Hosted Parties, where she led the fundraising effort, coordinating Hosted Parties and supporting the hosts while encouraging guests to support the 501(c)3 at LACES.
She has also been a member of Parents of Different Learners since 2014. As the parent of two neuro-diverse young people, she remains convinced that the beauty and power of their art comes from the gift of their neurodiversity.
