About LACHSA Foundation

The LACHSA Foundation is a charitable organization that advances the vital work of providing a fully public arts education at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. The Foundation’s family of donors is a broad base of philanthropists, corporations, private foundations, and investors who believe in students who were born to create.

The Foundation was incorporated in 1984 to “promote the arts and advancement of young artists by raising and distributing funds for the establishment and operation of a public arts high school in Los Angeles County.” Every school year since then, the Foundation partners with LACHSA and LACOE to invest in arts experiences that teach young student artists, such as learning from a faculty of internationally-recognized, professional teaching artists, attending master classes in all disciplines, and showcasing their diverse creativity through student-performed theatre, music concerts, film festivals, dance compositions, and visual art exhibitions.

Thanks to our founding visionaries, the LACHSA Foundation’s giving portfolio includes endowments that continue to invest in the needs of the school every school year. Additionally, the Foundation’s family of donors actively fundraises all year to ensure LACHSA’s success. The Foundation seeks the support of investors and donors who will help us raise the $2.2 million needed to support LACHSA’s students every school year.

The Foundation also has Big Visions and Big Dreams to celebrate LACHSA’s 40th Anniversary and guarantee the next 40 for LACHSA. We dream big because the students and faculty at LACHSA deserve it. Here are just a few of those ideas. If you have others, give us a call!

  • A $40 million dollar Endowment would guarantee at least $2 million for arts education per school year.
  • LACHSA’s new school site has been on the dream list. Help us design and kick off a major capital campaign for LACHSA 2.0.
  • The Foundation will have new offices in 2026 at the Hollywood Arts Collective. This program of the Entertainment Community Fund will create many more opportunities to grow student performances and outreach.

About LACHSA

Founded 35 years ago in the creative capital of Los Angeles, LACHSA – the LA County High School for the Arts – is one of America’s premiere public arts high schools for student artists whose undeniable talent and fearlessly authentic voices change the world.  LACHSA students come from every part of Los Angeles County and exemplify its wide-ranging diversity.

LACHSA is a conservatory-style incubator in dance, music, theatre, visual arts, and cinematic arts, that nurtures and mentors its students in transformational ways. Working with professional teaching artists to sharpen their critical thinking and strengthen their skills, LACHSA students develop the confidence to courageously share their art with the world. They go on to attend top colleges and arts conservatory programs and establish themselves as leaders in their chosen fields of art or study. Without exception, LACHSA students become the significant artists and individuals they were always meant to be.

The world takes notice of our artists because LACHSA students were born to create.
